Notes from our session

Quantum Life

physically tracking a single wavelength of a quantum particle

Quantum Particles comprise the makeup of the entire Universe; the goal is to illustrate the simplest movement of the smallest known particle in the Universe. What is the absolute smallest window we can look through to illustrate the life of a particle.

input

Data gathered from the motion of a quantum particle in a declared space. Data will illustrate the most basic movement of the particle in the smallest declared space possible.

 processes

Systems used:

Java and MatLab responsible for data and equations

Arduino and Processing will ‘sculpt’ the data

 output

Exploitations include but are not limited to:

Everything in the Universe is comprised of what cannot be seen.

Observations not only disturb what is being measured, but produce what you are measuring. (quantum scale).

Nothings exists until it is actually seen. (quantum scale).

Aspects of output:

Several small quantum systems combining to create a distinctively different macroscopic system will illustrate quantum properties in a visually tangible way. Observation itself should alter the realization of motion; perspective and vantage point can serve to alter the overall perception of the piece.
